Test any domain for Universal Commerce Protocol readiness
Run a live check against any storefront. We fetch the profile, audit AI bot access, measure latency, and detect capabilities — all in one second. Trusted across 24,371+ monitored merchants.
What the UCP Checker tests on every domain
Every check runs the same automated pipeline against the live endpoint. No surface-level validation — we test the same things AI shopping agents test when they encounter your store.
Profile validation
Fetch /.well-known/ucp, parse the JSON, check required fields (version, services, payment_handlers), and verify the version format matches the spec.
Capability detection
Detect declared capabilities, transports (REST, MCP, A2A, Embedded), and payment handlers. Track which surfaces your store actually exposes.
AI bot access audit
Parse robots.txt and check directives for GPTBot, ClaudeBot, Google-Extended, Applebot-Extended, and CCBot. Flag stores that block agent discovery at the policy layer.
Response performance
Measure profile fetch latency, classify against agent timeout budgets (200ms / 800ms / 2s), and report TLS verification. Slow endpoints fail real agent sessions.
How to read your UCP check result
Every check returns one of six possible statuses. Each maps to a specific failure or success mode and tells you exactly what to fix.
/.well-known/ucp.
/.well-known/ucp from bot protection rules — agents will hit the same wall.
Which AI agents use UCP profiles?
AI shopping agents fetch your UCP profile to understand what your store sells, what payment methods you accept, and how to interact with your commerce APIs. These are the agents currently consuming UCP profiles — and the ones we track in every check.
Google AI Mode & Gemini
Google's agentic commerce surface uses UCP profiles to enable shopping directly from search results. Stores without a valid profile are invisible to AI Mode shopping.
ChatGPT & OpenAI agents
OpenAI's shopping agents use UCP for product discovery and checkout. GPTBot crawls /.well-known/ucp to index store capabilities.
Claude / Anthropic
Anthropic's Claude uses UCP via MCP transport for agentic commerce sessions. ClaudeBot indexes UCP profiles for store discovery and conversational shopping.
Shopify Shop App
Shopify's native agent uses UCP internally for cross-store commerce. Shopify-hosted stores get UCP profiles automatically generated by the platform.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the UCP Checker?
/.well-known/ucp profile, validates the structure, audits robots.txt for AI bot access, measures response latency, and detects supported capabilities in under one second. What does the UCP Checker actually test?
How is the Checker different from the Validator?
/.well-known/ucp. The UCP Validator audits the structure of your profile JSON offline. The UCP Catalog Validator goes one layer deeper — it audits what your catalog.search and catalog.lookup endpoints actually return (variant data, pricing, response shape) once an agent calls them. Use the Checker for production verification, the Validator for profile structure, and the Catalog Validator for whether an agent can actually transact. Why might my store show as Not Detected?
/.well-known/ucp (the standard path), the endpoint returns a 404 or HTML error page, your web server doesn't route requests there, or the profile is behind authentication. The status page for your domain will show the exact HTTP response we received.Which AI agents use UCP profiles?
Is the UCP Checker free?
/api/validator, a CLI (npx ucp-check <domain>), an MCP server for AI agents, and a Chrome extension. An early snapshot of the directory (April 2026, CC-BY 4.0) is on Hugging Face but is no longer updated. See developer tools for the full list. How fresh are the results?
Can I check multiple domains at once?
