01Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using UCP Checker — including the website, browser extension, API, and any related tools (collectively, the "Service") — you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
These terms apply whether you use the Service anonymously or with an account.
02Description of Service
UCP Checker is a free tool for validating and monitoring Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP) manifest support across merchant websites. The Service lets you:
- Check whether a domain exposes a valid UCP manifest and review its conformance score.
- Browse a public directory of monitored stores, platforms, and capabilities.
- Set up alerts for domains you track (up to 3 per account).
- Monitor your own business from the dashboard at
app.ucpchecker.com— a workspace with a watchlist of up to 5 businesses, daily re-checks, and change tracking. - Verify ownership of your domain via a DNS record to unlock deeper monitoring, staging-endpoint tracking, and embeddable status badges.
- Access ecosystem statistics, leaderboards, and the weekly UCP report.
The monitoring dashboard is currently in beta and access is invite-gated: signing up places you on a waitlist and we admit workspaces in batches. During the beta the dashboard is free; we may introduce paid tiers later, and workspaces created during the beta keep free access to the features they signed up with. Beta features may change, be interrupted, or be withdrawn without notice.
UCP Checker is an independent tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated on behalf of any merchant, platform, or the maintainers of the UCP specification.
03Accounts & Registration
Most of the Service is available without an account. Creating one (via Google, GitHub, or magic link) unlocks alerts, saved preferences, and — once invited — the monitoring dashboard.
- You're responsible for activity that happens under your account.
- You must provide accurate information and keep your contact email current.
- A dashboard account belongs to a workspace. Workspace owners can invite teammates by email; owners manage the workspace and members get read access. Don't invite people who shouldn't see your monitoring data.
- Requesting early access (or signing in before you've been invited) places your email, and any domain or note you provide, on our waitlist so we can review and invite you.
- You may delete your account at any time from your profile settings.
- One person or organization per account — don't share credentials.
04Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service to attack, overload, or disrupt any website, including via the Service's check tooling.
- Scrape, resell, or redistribute the directory or its data in bulk without written permission.
- Circumvent rate limits, authentication, or any access controls, including the early-access gate.
- Claim or verify ownership of a domain you don't control, or misrepresent your relationship to a business you monitor.
- Alter an embedded status badge, or display a badge in a way that misrepresents the current check result it links to.
- Submit domains you don't have the right to monitor for the purpose of harassment.
- Reverse-engineer the Service except where that restriction is prohibited by law.
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these terms.
We may throttle, suspend, or remove access that we reasonably believe violates these rules.
05Domain Checks & Public Data
When you run a check, the Service requests publicly available information from the target domain, such as:
- The UCP manifest at
/.well-known/ucp robots.txtdirectives- HTTP response metadata (status codes, response times)
We respect robots.txt and reasonable crawl etiquette. Results reflect public data at the time of the check and may not be complete, current, or error-free. A score or status is informational only — it is not certification, legal advice, or a guarantee of any store's behavior.
Staging endpoints you add to your workspace are treated as private: they are checked for you but are not listed on public directory, status, or stats surfaces.
If you operate a domain and want it removed from the public directory, contact us.
06API & Rate Limits
The Service offers a public API for programmatic checks. To keep it fast and fair for everyone:
- Requests are subject to rate limits, which may change without notice.
- Automated access must identify itself honestly and respect returned
Retry-Afterheaders. - We may require an API key or account for higher-volume usage.
07Intellectual Property
The Service's software, design system, branding, and original written content are owned by UCP Checker and protected by applicable laws.
- Manifest data and HTTP metadata gathered from public endpoints belong to their respective domain owners.
- You may reference and link to individual check results and directory entries, and — once your domain is verified — embed your live status and score badges using the snippets we provide.
- Our published open dataset — an early CSV snapshot on Hugging Face from April 2026, no longer updated — is licensed under CC-BY 4.0. The live directory, status pages, scores and analytics are viewable but not openly licensed for bulk extraction, redistribution, or resale.
- The UCP Checker name and marks may not be used to imply endorsement without permission.
08Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement.
We don't warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any check result accurately reflects a store's real readiness for AI shopping agents. Beta features, including the monitoring dashboard, are offered without any uptime or support commitment.
09Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, UCP Checker and its contributors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of — or inability to use — the Service.
Because the Service is provided free of charge, our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed USD $100.
10Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access — with or without notice — if you violate these terms or if we discontinue the Service.
Sections that by their nature should survive termination (intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability) will continue to apply.
11Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which UCP Checker is established, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. You agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located there for any dispute that isn't subject to informal resolution.
Before filing a formal claim, please reach out so we can try to resolve the issue directly.
12Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify account holders.
Continued use of UCP Checker after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
